But that’s all they deliver. I’m fine with cutting out Saturday delivery. It hasn’t made much sense in years.

just make the junk/bulk mail senders pay the same rates that everyone else does. It will either increase the revenue sufficiently to allow current service to continue, or it will cut way back on the load the PO has to deal with.

As a retired postal worker I can tell you that USPS’s problem is twofold:First, poor management. Supervisors are promoted based on ethnic lines rather than merit. You won’t find this written down anywhere but the reality is that promotions are granted based on rotating through all the available ethnic groups. If a person is the most qualified but it is not his ethnic group’s turn he doesn’t get promoted. A lesser qualified person does. The most qualified person will have to wait until it is his group’s turn. I’m not saying one ethnic group is favored over another. USPS goes out of its way to be fair and becomes unfair in the attempt. Go figure.

Second, unions fight hard to protect workers who really should be let go as well as protecting workers who really have a legitimate grievance. I’m not anti-union. I was a union member myself but anyone could see keeping a lazy employee increases the work load on productive employees. It’s the union’s job to protect ALL it’s members so … I don’t know what the answer is.
