Red and Rover by Brian Basset for April 23, 2010
Transcript:
Martin's the meanest brother in the world! He'll drive me to the hobby shop, but only if I pay for gas. I dunno, it seems reasonable to me. One wouldn't expect Greyhound not to charge their passengers. Just whose side are you on?! Greyhound's! It's the only bus company name for a breed of dog!

Red, Rover is right. It’s fair. My brother would have wanted gas money and $10.00 an hour and that was 30 years ago. What is he now, a chauffeur.
rogebr about 14 years ago
Rover is so happily oblivious to Red’s distress. He’s not biting the hand that feeds him, he just drools on it.

Red, you’re in a 40-year timewarp. Gas is about $0.25/gal.

It certainly sounds fair to me, Red.

Red’s not getting much sympathy today.

The Big Dog began in Hibbing MN as a carrier to take miners to work in the iron mines.
Didn’t know Red had a brother. Does Martin ever appear in the strip?

Yes, Martin has appeared in the strip. As a teenager though, he doesn’t spend any more time with Red than he absolutely has to.

Gas may be 0.25/gal, but some of those big old cars used gallons per mile.
