Flip is a villian that reminds me of Dr. Zachary Smith from Lost in Space. He’s a bug up our butts and you just want to shoot him in the face with a bazooka!
I’ve been loving this series. The style he started with was kind of hard to follow, but by this time, It had taken on a more modern look, and was much easier to read. The detail got better over time, too.
Several of the characters develop substantially over the run of the comic. Nemo becomes more assertive and stands up for himself. In the process he gains Flip’s respect and semi-reforms the rogue.
I’ve often wondered what McCay would think about computers, smartphones and the internet bringing forth his comic strip to the masses over 100 years after they were first published.

I’ve seen some of the later strips and Flip didn’t seem to be such a bad guy. This has been quite a surprise and I wonder what happened?
