Before I was born, my mom had hired a maid who could only speak Polish. Unknown to my sisters, our grandmother spoke fluent Polish. When my grandmother came to visit, she spoke to the maid in Polish and found out my sisters were throwing their vegetables away since they felt the maid would be unable to tell our mother. So, even though the maid couldn’t discipline the kids, she was finally able to get my sisters’ misdeeds over to our mother who did discipline them.
