    This from Joe’s Kansas City:

Charlie Podrebarac’s COWTOWN is a cherished Sunday morning tradition in Kansas City. The weekly cartoon is a whimsical, gently satirical, and frequently poignant celebration of all things Kansas City: including our city’s awesome barbecue; our sports teams; our cultural traditions and proclivities; our finicky weather; our silly cross-state rivalries; and our urban and suburban peculiarities. Also there are brazen tomato-eating squirrels, pretentious beret-wearing poets, tattooed espresso-sipping hipsters, sometimes sinister snowmen, and Bob, an un-loveable loser without an ounce of self-awareness.Every week, for more than thirty years, The Kansas City Star has published a COWTOWN cartoon in Star Magazine, its Sunday newspaper supplement. Last week, however, The Star announced that it will cease publication of Star Magazine. This is a loss for Kansas City on many levels, but for us here at Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que, the thought of losing our weekly dose of COWTOWN was particularly alarming. Charlie Podrebarac is a part of our extended family. Charlie and his wife, Alicia, are partners in our line of Cowtown barbecue sauces and seasonings, and we’ve published Charlie’s cartoons in every edition of Burnt Ends, our in-house magazine. Even in this barbecue savvy town, few Kansas Citians know and love barbecue as much as Charlie does. If there were such a thing as an official Kansas City Barbecue Cartoonist, he would surely hold that title. We’ve decided we cannot allow this unique Kansas City treasure to go away. Beginning March 1, 2015, Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que will begin publishing new COWTOWN cartoons every Sunday on its Facebook page and on its Twitter feed. These cartoons will then be archived on the Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que website; www.joeskc.com.Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que restaurants are closed on Sundays, but we’ll be serving fresh helpings of funny every Sunday from now on.

I was at the original, gas station location Friday night near closing. Place was packed! All delicious! had the Ribs and Chicken with Texas toast. Back in Chicago now but will be back! Saw a few bottles of “Night of the Living” sauce at World Market.
