Well, I knew it was time for the dittos to show up. I just thought they’d be in the ring with Wally. This could work too, I guess…. ;-)

Dittos? Are they the domesticated remnants of those afflicted by Schism syndrome… err, whatever I just said.

Interesting! So Jim has become dittos. Holly understands about dittos. She can calm Kirbee down. I hope that Holly Knows what to do about them. I don’t know.

So if she can get her to calm down or deal with the dittos, Kirbee must be able to tell Holly about the fight. Of course Holly doesn’t know who Kirbee is but she has a goood heart and will help.I know I’m just thinking this through, This is one of Aaron’s famous pulling out something we didn’t have a clue. Well, guesses but,, wow.

I can’t tell, is Chic laughing, or just Irving?

I had this odd feeling, that maybe, possibly, the life force of a mutant with schism syndrome, MIGHTdedifferentiate into something like a portion of the pure consciousness of the previous host. Mitochondrial DNAseems to, maybe not, but seems to, be involved in a dance that transmits something like what was described as a morphic resonance by some Jungians. Heisenberg might have had something to say about that.

    What’s for lunch?

Or maybe, Jim went somewhere else after Holly chewed his fingers off, assuming that wasn’t a digital illusion, and the dittos have been looking like Jim for a while.

Kirbee picked up fingers, so unless dittos have developed ability to cause people to hallucinate substance, Holly really did see Jim rotate his head 180 degrees and chewed his fingers off. Gotta Run, My zebra named Occam is outside the window. MaybeJusSlightlyDelusional Or MaybeEntertained

Mr. Neathery, you are a GENIUS!I, for one, had completely forgotten about those dittos. And chances are, they will be essential to Wally and Co. escaping Lizardtown.Which reminds me… Will they remember to pick up Clive on their way out?

I agree, I was thinking that the dittos might aid Wally or help the group escape from lizardtown but it never occurred to me that they were stalking Kirbee. THAT WAS WICKED!!! Aaron Neathery has done it again!

…Or possibly the super-crazy, all-knowing Jim wasn’t Jim at all. It was the Dittos all along. Which means that there’s a good chance that the actual Jim is still around somewhere else…

From the look in Holly’s hand in panel one I think she has found a clean apron. Now Kirbee probably needs to find some clean shorts.

WHEW, man, it’s good to see that Kirbee is still alive. I was worried that she was going to end up being a case of ‘build up a likeable minor character who seems like they’ll have a bigger purpose in things and them kill them off to show how dire things are’. Not that that can’t be done WELL, of course, but admittedly it’s not a trope I’m particularly fond of.

My thought was that the dittos are what remained of the billions of dead after the apocalypse, just sentient enough to band together but incapable of independent thought or action. Rather like chameleons, taking on the shape or what’s around.

Without going back, I’m trying to remember a panel where the dittoes that the lizards were familiar with were entangling with the Endtown dittoes and nobody had control of them. Seeing the eyes and mouths pattern on the dittoes now may mean that the Endtown dittoes assimilated the others and are in “control”. I’m making this assumption on the possibility that the lizards may not be familiar with the eyes and mouths pattern. Holly has most likely recognized them for what they are and she may be able to gain control if they are able to recognize her. This could be an ace in the hole for them. What surprises me is that Chic hasn’t freaked out yet.

    On with the Friday prediction:

    Kirbee: Are you Molly?

    Holly: My name’s Holly.

Kirbee: I’m looking for a Molly. I’ve got to convince a cat that Molly’s still alive.

    Holly: What’s the cat’s name?

    Kirbee: Wally.

    Holly: My name’s Molly.

They look like feral dittos, not the ones owned by Wally or Lizardtown. Dittos are individual cell-sized creatures acting together, so maybe they are the mutated cells of someone who’s gone through the psychological trauma of Schism Syndrome. What happens to you when exposed to the mutagen depends on your psychological state, whether conscious, unconscious, or stoned, so Schism Syndrome might fracture the body as well as the mind. Dittos are psychic, and Jim apparently became psychic when he started to crack up. Apparently he literally cracked up. As a new ditto swarm, he’s untrained and feral and acting on id-stinct, like the Id Monster in “Forbidden Planet”.

If Jim was starting to lose cohesion in the walls, that would explain his neck trick and shrugging off his injuries and the gas.

Dittos couldn’t be Jim, but they could hide his body. But I couldn’t guess why they would. They didn’t hide his fingers. These dittos seem to be in “attack”, or " defensive" mode. It seems when they want to intimidate a subject, they manifest the “clouds with teeth”. If there are enough of them, they can simulate a monster. These seem to be a small group. Are they feral, escaped from the lizards (who know about dittos)? Are they Wally’s? Did they drive Kirbee towards Holly so they could break through the plug and help Holly? Can’t help but laugh at how Aaron can surprise us.

I suspect they are part of the ball of Wally’s dittos combined with the Lizards’. I’m guessing that Mixing Wally’s dittos with the lizards is causing lots of conflict in dittoland, leading some of the formerly domesticated dittos to break off and roam the hidden passageways. My take is that the eyes and teeth are a sign of being agitated.
