There was a series on History Channel called “History’s Lost and Found,” and they had a nice little article on Ben Franklin’s armonica. Apparently, people banned the armonica because they blamed it for causing mental disorders. Also, Franz Mesmer supposedly used it to induce hypnosis, which didn’t help its reputation. .Unfortunately, the video is not on YouTube.
