Well, the current occupant is ALSO full of something, but it sure as hell ISN’T “Chicle”. Although, oddly enough, the 2nd and 3rd letters of what he IS full of also happen to be “h” and “i”.
Santa Anna? Chewing Gum? Could it be at the Wrigley’s are not the modern fathers of chewing gum, as some claim? And what does this mean for their stadium and former team, the Chicago Cubs? Was the curse of the Billy Goat the haunted them for so long actually the curse of Santa Anna, wanting revenge after all these years against ‘Big Gum’? This comic has taken a while to progress to this point, but, now that we’re here, there is no going back.
Wasn’t up late enough to post by the time the comic went up here, but here’s my news post from the main 2PO site on today’s comic:
Although this is a popular story, and I’ve always taken it to be another bizarre yet true part of the legend of General Santa Anna, upon researching it further for this comic, I’ll admit that I can’t find any solid proof that he actually inadvertently introduced chewing gum to the United States. A lot of articles about it and even some claiming of first hand accounts, but without seeing the documentary evidence, I can’t confirm it myself.
So although today’s comic doesn’t hold up to my standards of historical accuracy for Two Party Opera, I still wanted to retell it since General Santa Anna is ridiculous. Does anyone else want to weigh in on the history of this?
And thank you for the patience with the sporadic comics lately – for those not in the know, for the last few months, I’ve been re-enrolled in college after all these years to finally finish my degree. But the good news is, I’ve only got a month left to go!

My only question is why the locals kept exiling him instead of just killing him.
