Billy may need some time to ruminate over the answer.

Somebody’s probably been feeding him corn to fatten him up. Cows can’t digest corn without chemical help, but it’s fed to them anyway to quickly fatten them for slaughter and to make use of our overabundance of corn. The animals’ suffering, the impact on the environment (the resultant gas is a major contributor to global warming), and the reduced nutrition (beef from cows fed a natural diet actually contains a lot of Omega-3 and -6 fatty acids) are of no concern to the corporations that raise the cows and market the corn.

I must have had a life today. I’m late to the comic strip!
