Salem is more of a big picture thinker than Ivan. Ivan just wants whatever it is now.

Uh, Ivan, who brought Mr. Wigglesworth into this plain? And who was smart enough to bring him into a summoning circle in case he proved dangerous? As Salem says, any idiot can open a portal. The smart people know to first take precautions.

It gets very expensive when you have to clean up the mess. The “fixers” charge portal-to-portal.
