Is this referring to the army lieutenant that got pepper sprayed? While, I being a coward would have stepped out of the car, I fully respect the lieutenant’s decision, as there was no reason he wouldn’t feel uncomfortable with multiple cops holding him at gunpoint. The cop who pepper sprayed him 100% deserved being fired.
If I was black in America I would be afraid most of the time around police. I am actually what we call white and a bit nervous around police. I don’t do wrong things, but they still make me nervous.Got a ticket for having a rear light out on my MG. I did not know the light was out. I had to pay a fine for not knowing. I fixed it the next day. But I had almost no money to fix the light and pay the fine.I was young and dumb. A warning would have resulted in me fixing the light. But still having lunch money. So that is a white boys experience. Image a black boy? Far worse and with even less money.Come on folks. We can be better than this.Perhaps ALL police should be black? Or Asian? Or Latino? No whites need apply.
Sadly, this is only one small aspect of the very deeply ingrained structural racism in the country. I wonder if it would help if there were police units specialised in enforcing laws against discrimination, racism and hate crimes; sort of a SWAT unit specifically meant to fight racism, hate crimes and discrimination. Especially, if they also had jurisdiction over all other law enforcement units. That is something I could support.
I was a single 60 year old white woman, moving my stuff into a new home. On my way home from the third trip of the day I was stopped by a cop who took exception to the fact that he could see a whole bunch of cartons in the back of my station wagon. He made me unlock the rear door, told me to step out of the car and opened the rear door and started pulling the cartons out of the back. Imagine his surprise when he found they were all empty. Do you think he apologised? He didn’t. He told me I could go, and left the empty cartons in the street for me to pick up. Imagine if I was a black male? I’d probably be dead now.
We just got a new police chief here in Madison, Wisconsin. During his introductory interview with the local newspaper, he said he preferred being thot of as a “peace officer”, not a “law-enforcement officer”. Seems to me like the kind of mindset they should ALL have.
Welcome to small “speed-trap” town, VA… on a well-travelled rout between half a dozen Universities to the west, including Lynchburg, home of Liberty University, founded by Jerry Falwell, and a few more in the east featuring Pat Robertson’s Regent University.
I’m hoping that Terry Preta Gardens is NOT Montan Swill in drag. Because Montana Swill is like a stuck page-on-the-day wall calendar: he is right once per year. NO intelligent person can conceive of Terry Preta Gardens being right as long as calendars exist………..
And (as the legendary C.S. Lewis put it in an entirely different context), what ARE they teaching in schools these days? From the perverted (yes, I used that term on purpose) math of the idiot troll Terry (can I use the first name of your invented nick? Thanks, awfully) to the braindead conclusions derived from………………hell, it would make a cannibal vomit!
I keep hearing that the individual killed shot was resisting, as if that justifies it. Why do I not hear about white individuals being shot because they are resisting? Do white people never resist arrest? Or do white people never commit crimes?

That is absolutely borne out by the statistics.

What’s a black guy doing with a new car? Better pull him over, make up some excuse like no tags.

Just comply. Comply with the order given, without regard to color, creed, etc., and none of this happens.

If we tolerate police acting as judges and executioners then the vigilantes are emboldened…

Mostly it has been black men, though black women still die in police custody.

He’s not complying. How can we ever make any progress, if people won’t even try to meet others halfway.
