It’s nice to see a political cartoon that’s topical, true (by cartoon standards) and that makes a point that I think hasn’t been strongly enough made. Better than that, it made me chuckle!
PS: I loathed Cheney, Rove and their pet Dubya, and I loathe pretty much everything else about Liz Cheney except her insistence that the orange Mistake is indeed just that, even for the GQP.
I am opposed to all lies – of any kind – in the political arena, but I acknowledge that strict adherence to the truth is difficult in politics. To lie in the face of facts, however is unconscionable – there is NO ROOM in political discourse for a lie about winning an election when the vote count showed the opposite to exist.
Donnie John was given ample opportunity to state his case in the various courts of the land … and he failed to convince in any of them.
A simple statement of fact that “I won the election” MUST be backed up by proof in an actual ballot count – and THAT COUNT must be done by an organization of some repute – not the organizational nut jobs that the Arizona republican party uncovered under some rock – the nut-job ninjas have less than zero credibility!
I believe that a high percentage of the QOP’s policies are bad for the growth, security, and the betterment of our country. They stand for division, misinformation, and lies because without it they would not win another election. I applaud those on the right and the independents standing up to say that the leader of LieLie Land is an insurrectionist and that he needs to be criminally investigated. Let’s hope that the rumors of a separate, new conservative party becomes reality. This would give some of the 74 million easily fooled somewhere else to vote for the “policies” that they used as an excuse to vote for drumpf, and to the progressive’s benefit, splt the QOP party down an unmistakable lying line.
Probably not fair, but every time I see Liz Cheney I clearly see her father’s physical facial features. And the Cheney family members are reportedly close, and (with one possible exception) likely share the basic political views. I can’t help but think there is a sly undercurrent to her current detour from Trump Republicanism. Does she discern a coming political fracture wherein she will skillfully pick up the pieces and reassemble them to her advantage?
We have reached the point where Liz Cheney – someone who has happy to propagate lies and propaganda on behalf of her party – is being pushed out by the very forces she enabled. It has gone so far that they are not even pretending to support democratic norms anymore; the Republican Party is now and forever the Party of #45. All that matters is what he says, does, or wants.
Liz Cheney is no hero. We are at the edge of a cliff. The fact that one person decides not to march off is not a point in her favor – it’s a savage indictment of the entire party, and her past behavior helping it happen.
When speaking your mind and being chastised for it and removed from position, the the removers deny that was the real real reason, there is something wrong big time!
Osama bin Laden was a much, much, much better Republican than Cheney or Bush. He got way more bang for the buck. He managed to kill his 3000 Americans for about a million bucks, or $333 each. Cheney and Bush offed 4500 Americans in Iraq (the wrong country) at a cost of $1.5 trillion, or $333,333,333 each. And, for an encore, they invaded Afghanistan (where bin Laden wasn’t hiding), for another $2 trillion, or $488,000,000 for each of the 4100 dead Americans we racked up there.
It’s a an open question who America’s real enemies are, but there’s no doubt who’s better at business.
I would welcome a conservative party that could actually compete with the liberals without lying. That hasn’t happened in the entire time I have been politically aware, roughly 50 years. I don’t agree with a lot of liberal ideas- abortion tops the list, and would be interested in hearing the views of an HONEST conservative party. I have never had that option and once I understand that I am being lied to, even if the person lying seems to believe what he is saying—- actually even more so if he seems to actually believe it, because that’s nuts, so I have always voted Democratic. An honest option might be nice.
According to the news, a lot of Republicans have changed their party affliction after Jan 6, going to the trouble of letting the local election officials know about it. Since there have to be quite a few people who had the same reaction, but didn’t bother to make it official in the county records, I would say the Republicans have to cut the MAGAts out of the party if they want to have a party left. Since they can’t attract any voters from the right—they are convinced the Republicans were going to back their insurrection and are pissed that they didn’t, the only hope they have is to develop a Republican party that will attract moderates.
She’s another example of how the former President in Absentia while Living in the White House can make the life forms from the bottom of a stagnant pond look great.
McCarthy took Cheney as a threat. He doesn’t want a woman leading any part of the Trumplican party. Suburban women should never vote republican again, ever!
Congresswoman Liz Cheney may be applauded for insisting the RepubliQan Party acknowledge Trump’s Big Lie about the 2020 Presidential election, but bear in mind the source of her political strength. Being honest and ethical in one area of politics doesn’t necessarily free her from criticism of her other political beliefs.
Iraq DID have some chemical weapons, though. Just not a lot. And that’s not really enough to justify invasion in my opinion.
IMO (as a qualified armchair general), we should have pressed home our invasion in 1990-1991, when we had a better casus belli, and when we promised the Iraqi people that we would.

I’m not feeling sorry for Liz or the GQP. I am concerned about them ever gaining more power in the US though.
