Kelly is mental. “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” This was written by Evelyn Beatrice Hall to sum up Voltaire’s attitude.
I haven’t seen the “Laura Ingram” salute gain much popularity outside of Fox News viewers. The RW commenters probably remember that from their parents/grandparents/Klan leaders. But I picture that sign being popular in colleges now.
Curiously, the biggest antisemites over the past decade have been Republicans. Who could forget their rallying cry of “Jews will not replace us!” Or the swastikas at Trump rallies. Or the “Camp Auschwitz” shirts we saw at the 1-6-21 insurrection.
So to blame college campuses is a farce.
Meanwhile, Islamophobia is equally on the rise in the US, not just on campuses (which it is) but also in the streets. Not just Islamophobia. Christian Arabs are being attacked (since we apparently don’t really care as much about their religion as about how they look). There are lots of Christians in Gaza, too. A hospital sponsored and operated by our church has suffered damage, but the biggest problem is that they have no supplies, no electricity to run the life-saving equipment (like incubators for infants), and no room to put the injured.
Most of the protests on and off campus are not antisemitic as much as in protest of the actions of the Israeli government, and those are not the same thing. The Israeli government has killed more than four times as many Palestinians (mostly women and children) than were killed in the (murderous and horrific) Hamas attack. This goes against the precept of an eye for an eye — which was understood to be a limit on revenge, not a starting point.
And just in terms of security, the Israeli government’s actions are not going to make the country safer. It will simply make its neighbors mistrust it all the more. Unless the Israeli government intends to eliminate every one of the 2 million Palestinians in Gaza, its current course will just lead to more and more conflict.
I find it disturbing that people will support thugs and murderers who invade, killing everyone and everything they can before fleeing back across the border to cower behind women and children.
There are a lot of very sick, mentally disturbed and morally weak people in this world. You really can’t commit vile atrocities against someone and expect them to turn the other cheek. Not everyone plays the victim card.
…… and yet it is the Trump and the right wing that Brings in actuall Nazi Nick Fuentes to give speeches
….. Didn’t Steve Scalise describe himself as ," David Duke without the baggage"
So Please try agin to equate someone who is against the war as automatically being a Nazi. There are protesters aginst the invasion of Gaza IN ISREAL. are they Jewish Nazis?
The antisemitism that has been on display has been shocking to most of us. Who knew that it was so large, not only in Europe but here at home too. It has really opened my eyes and I’m sure Jewish voters as well.
I hope that young people will watch the PBS series “World on Fire” As a person who was a child during WWII, I remember what hell Nazis and haters inflicted on the world at that time. This series does a good job of depicting it. People who do not realize this are playing a dangerous game.
protesting the human rights abuses the israel government inflicts on the palestinians is not anti-semetism. it certainly isn’t nazism or fascism. there are a lot of israelis protesting the incursion into gaza – is kelley saying they are nazis?
She’s been well trained in her Nazi salute. All she needs now is the jack boots and the riding crop.
Student protesters are both in denial and lack the mental capacity to figure out that it’s wrong to advocate killing all Jews. How do you describe this as a virtue? As a byproduct of their stupidity, they are dooming their future selves to a lifetime of employment that fits what they’ve done during their tender years. Their choice and their fate. “Would you like cheese on that cheeseburger, sir? Is your toilet clean enough?”
It’s not hard to guess that their favorite song is Eighteen by Alice Cooper. “I’ve got a baby’s brain and an old man’s heart!”
Afraid Netanyahu’s actions are creating a lot of anti semitic’s. Revenge is one thing, but bombing a refugee camp to get at the tunnels under it is.. a tad over the top. A war crime if it weren’t for some missguided guilt about a genocide some 80 odd years ago.
Steve has missed the whole point of the war. The Cornell protesters are just that, protesters, seeking help for the beleaguered Palestinians in Gaza. The real fascist is Netanyahu and his cronies engaging in their version of the final solution. Though I applaud their attempt to rid the world of Hamas, they will also rid the world of the Gazans, too. And once that is done, they can reacquire the Gaza strip in their attempt to rebuild the Israel of David.
So feeling sympathy for Palestinian civilians makes you a Nazi? This is not necessarily so, but it makes for easy Trumpublican misinformation spreading.
Hey Skelly. If you like graffic journalism, read Joe Sacco’s “Footnotes in Gaza” about living as a Palestinian in the 50’s. You might learn something valuable, but I doubt it.
That phrase is classic: If Hamas laid down their arms, it would be the end of conflict. If the Jews laid down their arms, it would be the end of Israel.
That person who posted his garbage at Cornel: just as likely to be a conservative member of the right wing college organization Turning Point as anything else. How’s about we wait to find out his political leanings instead of jumping to the conclusion that he is a progressive?
Ah, but because this happened at an elite Ivy League university, US conservatives can’t wait to make a sweeping generalization about how so-called “liberal education/educators” is the cause of Patrick Dai’s posts.
Actually the media isn’t really into subtleties. From what I’ve seen, the mood on campuses is actually anti-Zionism, not anti-Semitism. Zionism is actually an hard right ideology saying the Israel can do whatever it wants.
I wonder why liberals/democrats totally ignore the fact that Hamas murdered babies, beheading them in their cribs. Over 40 babies murdered. Young teens at a music festival having fun murdered. Why isn’t anyone denouncing that? I get they hate Israel and Jews but how can you justify the murder of babies?

Voicing support for Palestine does not mean you support terrorism. Criticising Israel does not mean you’re anti-Sematic or a Nazi.
YOu know what makes you anti-Sematic and Nazi adjacent? “Jewish space lasers caused California’s fires”. “Jews will not replace us!”.
Who was saying that?

Anyway, I’d think, given previous cartoons featuring them, they would be happy she joined a far right group and not some liberal group.
