If you ever go to Cedar Point amusement part in Sandusky, Ohio, be sure to ride Cedar Downs, which is a racing carousel. The horses are on a rotating flat circular platform and instead of going up and down, they go back and forth in slots in the floor. Each horse has its own slot and they’re in rows of four, and a different horse ‘wins’ at the end of every ride. It’s one of only two still operating racing carousels in existence.
Fun fact, mounts on the outside of the carousel travel faster than ones on the inside, because they have a larger distance to travel in the same rotational period.
