And here I thought that the only school dogs attended was obedience school. I wonder if Fergus will also do her homework?

Fellow Baby, “That swine”, huh? Someone sounds a tad jealous! LOL! To answer your question from last night, no the commercials aren’t bad, it’s not chopped up, but the music isn’t the original. The one with Little Arthur, though still good, just isn’t quite the same without the music from “Patton”.

Good morning all you CD kids..Fergus it’s all good till it’s time for a potty break. Then what?

Ohmigosh! This comic sounds as if it were written 65 or 70 years ago when I was in school. MISS Mahoney! MRS Toomin! ? That’s the way we addressed each other when I went to school. In ancient times that is.

It wouldn’t have occured to me to be less formal and correct with my teachers. Besides, had I so thought I would have been rewarded with some kind of immediate punishment then held up as a bad example of manners to the class by the offended teacher and worst of all, my parents would have been notified of my impertinence and disrespect. That would have resulted in my mom crying because I “disgraced” the entire family and my dad deciding on the best way to punish the offence so that it didn’t happen again.

Yeah, that’s the way it really was back then!

Now the kids, my niece and her contemporaries and the kids belonging to various friends and so forth, call their teachers by their first names as though they were classmates or best friends. Besides, although we cannot see Mrs. Toomin, you can bet she is properly attired and modestly but properly dressed.

The teachers in my niece’s school as well as the kids appear in class in the most casual and, based on what we wore to class, inappropriate attire. Besides, I can’t tell the teachers from the students in the higher grades and high school. They all dress pretty much the same. There is no distiction in betwwen how the students and teachers address each other, it’s all very casual.

But whatever makes them happy I guess. It’s just so very foreign and, to me, somehow wrong because of the distiction that existed when I was in school. I guess that’s the way the world turns and who knows where it is going. I’m glad I went to school when I did instead of now. Or….maybe if I were a kid now, I might just think to myself, “Wow! I’m sure glad I”m going to school now instead of in those “good old days”."

Maybe it’s just a matter of perspective.

Just in case anybody is interested in my ceiling painting…., I’m not finished yet as I hoped I would be. But I am well on my way and will get it all done soon. Those extra trips back and forth to Ace hardware because the paint was the wrong color etc. really cut into my working time!

My brother was taken totally by surprise when he got back from his two day trip with a friend so see “the races”.. Motorcycles that is. He rides "em too. Not the races though.

He looked at what I had finished and said it looked great and he was amazed at how good it looked. Then he added, “I just can’t trust you alone for more than a couple of hours at a time, can I?”

Then he was off and cautioning me with almost the same thoughts that you, my friends, expressed. “Don’t you realize you could have fallen off the ladder?” and so forth. I’ts just because I know he loves me and is concerned about me. But if I listened to him and wrapped myself in bubble wrap so I wouldn’t get hurt, I would never get anything done. By the way, he is younger than I am and worries about me. Sweet. But I am not going to just quit doing “things” because of a few years that I have accumulated.

“I just can’t trust you alone for more than a couple of hours at a time, can I?”……………………………………………………………………….If I was there, I would say “a couple of minutes” — not “hours”!!LOL I’m sure you could get yourself in plenty of mischief given a couple of hours.

Thanks! When I finally saw it (about 10:45 pm eastern last night), after forgetting to look Sat. night, then not being able to locate it last night (some cloud cover), it was like being “blinded by the light” (with a nod to Springsteen). I think it was even brighter due to the haze last night. It was hard to look at it straight on for longer than a few seconds.Nest time this occurs will be 2029, so I didn’t want to miss this opportunity. Still, it wasn’t as big as I expected it would be.

Shika, tomorrow’s meeting starts at 7:30AM CT. So I’ll need to be in by at least 7. I’m glad it’s not a 7AM meeting though. It won’t give me enough time to read my toons.

I’ll be watching The Birds tonight, so I may be distracted from the “party”

I wonder if I’ll be creeped out by the perceived feeling that there are more birds than usual in the area.

Home baked chocolate chip cookies and strawberry bread for all. Trimmed a few more bushes this afternoon, got oil changed and dog bathed. PetSmart put pink bows on her ears. Tried to get a couple of pictures and will use one as soon as I can get them uploaded. Tomorrow going to clean the house good and the grass needs cutting again.

Fellow Baby I was at my friends/also neighbor’s house one afternoon a couple of years ago, and while we were outside talking, a Hummingbird got real close to her. I said “Oh look, there’s a Hummingbird right beside you.” SHE LITERALLY FREAKED OUT! After I calmed her down, I asked her if she had seen “The Birds” when she was a kid (we are the same age) and she said “No, I’ve just always been afraid of birds and I don’t really know why”.

Fellow Baby, I don’t think I’ve ever been that close to any bird, unless you count caged birds.

Isn’t it funny that when you’re walking, a bird in your path will fly away when you get too close and end up flying further on down your path. They never seem to go to the left or right or behind you.

It’s a good movie, but I’d still much rather see a movie like Notorious, Rebecca or Saboteur.

I’ve got The Blues Brothers coming up next week while I’m on vacation. You can bet I’ll be cranking up the volume on that one.

I couldn’t get to the computer today it was the warmest day of the year so far. I tried hauling my iPad outdoors buis it seized up on me so I just gave up on the internet and worked in the yard.

I’ve had moments like that on my iPad as well, cleo. I suspect I’ll have similar problems when I’m on the road this coming weekend. I think I’ll just read my strips from my e-mail. I suspect I’ll be too busy to take a lot of time posting comments.
