My Friend P. White was in the South Tower. She refused the security guards instructions to go on upstairs and ran down instead. She escaped certain death and was only a few blocks away when the first tower fell.

Today’s strip brought tears to my eyes.I lived about 50 miles from the city, along the CT shore on Long Island Sound. We were on the flight paths of JFK and a local airport, so planes were as much a part of the sky as the clouds and birds. But that day nothing flew. The whole world seemed to be holding it’s breath. The silence was only broken once – by three Blackhawk helicopters, flying full speed, as they passed overhead toward the city.

You’d think ALL of the 9-11 strips would have been dedicated to the memory. I haven’t been able to find any others, except BC. Wiley writes a pretty somber poem.

To think the people who did this, did it in the name of God! God!!! But not the true God as they think, the true God is the God of Israel! Islum is a cult founded by a man who took little girls for wives! A curse on the Muslum religion!

Mike, Person, and Vista,.I very much appreciate the compliments, but I will say, thank you, Fire Marshal Bucca, and all the other firefighters and cops, those who died and those who survived..You gave the whole world an example of courage and self-sacrifice that is still awe-inspiring a decade later..The monsters who committed this act may have believed they were acting in the name of God (and, as an aside, the God of Mohammed IS the God of Abraham and the God of Jesus; Islam, like Judaism and Christianity, is one of the three Abrahamic faiths), but the true Spirit of God was in the heart of every firefighter and and every cop who rushed into those buildings to help those who needed help.

    @ Jim Doherty:

Actually, Biblical Christianity teaches that Jesus Christ IS God, eternally One with the Father and Holy Spirit. We don’t totally understand it, but it is spelled out quite clearly in the Bible. Muslim teaching is that Jesus was a mere prophet of lesser importance than Mohammed You cannot try to blend the two teachings; they are mutually exclusive. Biblical Christianity further teaches that all people everywhere need the saving work of Christ i love Muslims,Jews and everybody else, and pray that they will come to know the Wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ. Thank you..

They were there to answer duties callThat day we saw the twin towers fallThey knew the job was full of dangerBut it was theirs, to help friend or strangerTo answer a call, they could not pick and chooseThough their lives they might even loseHearth and home, they had to leaveTo do, in what they believedA quiet morning, to be had by someNothing much but routine to be doneBut when the alarm sounded, they sallied forthTo those soaring towers, both south and northThe first responders, from throughout the city cameAll knowing things would never again be the sameSmoke and flame, high up in the skyNo time to hesitate, no need to question whyFlame and smoke poured from aboveBut no-one had to give them a shoveInto the building they went with all their gearThings had to be done, no time for fearFire, police, EMS’s tooAll knew the job that they had to doUp they went, seemingly without a carePeople were in dire need of their help up thereThrough the flames, smoke and dust They did the things they knew they mustThen came those terrible, ominous soundsThat heralded the towers crashing to the groundThe dust and smoke are all settled nowIn prayer and remembrance our heads do bowFor all who perished on that fateful dayWe honor the price that you did pay.

Forgot to say yesterday Shane, Shelly, Mike and Joe; not only is this moving, the artwork is just gorgeous despite the subject matter. I cannot believe the difference even less than a year makes in the life of a strip like this. Keep up all the great work.
