For those who have to look it up, the sixth commandment is “Thou Shall Not Kill”

Yikes…come on, people..First: the common misconception is that the Ten Commandments are a neat numbered list, like a PowerPoint presentation. In fact they appear twice, in Exodus and Deuteronomy, and with a lot of (non-identical) verbiage surrounding the first several ones in both places. The meaning is the same, but the divisions between them are debatable, and the first two can easily be combined into one. Believe it: no matter whose church you go to, none of them are missing..As for the images in Catholic churches and idol worship…sigh. Do you carry pictures of your spouse and kids in your wallet? Do you worship the pictures as idols, or ever mistake the pictures for the actual persons? No? Good. It’s the same in churches that have icons, statues, stained-glass windows, whatever. They’re representations, reminders, of the ones that we love — they may be admired and revered, but they are not “worshipped”. (Lord, I hope this helps.)

Ummm… I would have thought he stole much more than sermons: Tax dollars to support a lavish lifestyle, perhaps, like most rulers, politicians and bureaucrats.

I have noticed that people can be very religious – when it’s to their advantage to be so.

“Sounds like an 19th Century George Carlin. Excellent. (I took a quick peak [sic] at Wikipedia)”Something like that. Start with The Devil’s Dictionary. Next, get of a good anthology of his stories and read “Oil of Dog”, “Chicamauga” and “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” (which was broadcast as an episode of The Twilight Zone
