Why was the old man rolling home? Was he drunk? And does every dog get a bone with their nicks, nacks and patty wacks, or is that extra?

This visit has gone from bad to worse for Monty. He should have asked Moondog to call his cell ‘phone at a pre-arranged time so he would have an excuse to leave. It’s an old trick.

At least Eucy’s instrument is a just a flutophone. A trumpet or a set of drums (or a saxophone!) would really be nerve-rattling for Monty. But for a parent, it’s music to their ears, right?…right?

My kid would’ve chosen the Beatles and Johnny Cash.

@Commentator— don’t confuse what an author writes with what he believes. Did Agatha Christie enjoy murdering people?

I have been making “mix CDs” for my grandnieces: I drive them 3 hours each way when we have them for visits, and I choose songs they would like from my collection in order to subtly influence them and to preserve my sanity. A lot of Beatles, and they like stuff like “Boy From New York City” (Manhattan Transfer version). And The Muffs, oddly (showed them this video first, which helped: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeVWLkiB80o)

steverino, but I can’t help wonder about Edgar Allen Poe……..I think he was just plain sick…

As far as music, kids today love the Beatles and most of the music from 1960 until now……..The current generation is very egalitarian and they enjoy an extremely wide variety of music and most other things…..they are very knowledgeable…….

Monty, go home! Why subject yourself to this torture-by-child-of-host?

They say that schooldays are the happiest days of your lives. That’s happiest for the parents, that is, some peace for at least part of 5 days a week.

At least she didn’t choose Britney, Eminem, Justin Beiber, or any other of those faux black singers …. and if she went with 50 Cent or Snoop Dogg, I’d have to sadly conclude that nice little girl is a whore

… so everything considered, Monty could’ve fared worse

When my three were that age, they like to hear WitchDoctor because the Chipmunks sang in it. They also enjoyed the Beatles, the Police, and Don’t Worry, Be Happy.

We don’t subject our 5 year old to “kids music” as she hears it in preschool. We listen to “normal” music around her. She likes Rob Zombie and Bob Marley.

My oldest learned at a very early age to enjoy the Grateful Dead. Now she and her three-year-old sing Dead songs together on long car trips.
