Happy Birthday guys !! – I WORK for a paper, and I “SEE” SO much of ‘us’ in you !.(and I’m born and raised in Eastern Penna. – it’s ALWAYS been “pop” in our house… depends on where you were raised.

I was 17 when that strip that started in the year that everythinghad gone crazy! Was too cold in the winter, too hot in the summer, The NYC blackout, and the premiere of Star Wars! To us, it was one the best years of the ’70’s!

I was out of high school in 71 and college in 75 and suffering through the 70’s recession (which wasn’t as bad as this one).

Wow! It’s been 35 years. I wonder if they still call it “soda water” in Texas? It’s called “pop” in Chicago. And I’m called “grand pop”. lol

I really miss Jeff MacNelly’s editorial cartoons. He was one of the best ever.

I always preferred the word soda, I think it’s a word with more aesthetic appeal, and words like that are important to me as a writer.

Seltzer water is “plain soda.” (Or, if you’re over sixty, “two cents plain.”)As a lifelong New Yorker, I’ve always used (and heard) “soda,” although I’d know what someone’s talking about if they called it “pop.” But up here, “coke” means cola, and only cola.
