He gets promoted to Lt. sometime between 12/2/02 and now. Note that this s definitely an error on the writer’s part, as BD could not even receive a battlefield promotion. The US army stopped giving them after the Vietnam War and didn’t begin using them again until 2009 (and then then they are appointments and are temporary unless approved by a review board).
