Ames says, "Things are tight. We can't afford to go shopping." Maggie says, "Honey?" Ames says, "No exceptions." Maggie says, "Hon-eey?" Maggie says, "Your daughter has, um, sprung a pair." Maggie says, "Her tops are so tight, we can't afford not to go shopping." Ames says, "Are burkas on sale?"
Dads don’t want to lose their daughters, and they’re afraid they may end up being hurt if they look too available. A man worries about his daughter(s) from about age 13 until she is (they are) happily married to (a) good man (men). Thank goodness my 40 year old daughter is happily married to a very good man.
