Peanuts by Charles Schulz for December 07, 1954
Transcript:
Charlie Brown sits on the curb looking off to his left. He thinks, "Here comes Charlotte Braun...I suppose I should try to give her a compliment in order to stay on the good side of her..."<br> <br>As Charlotte walks by, he calls, "Gee, Charlotte, you really have beautiful hair!"<br> <br> He jumps as she walks up to him and shouts, "WELL, NOW THAT'S A SARCASTIC THING TO SAY."<br> <br> He grimaces as she walks off and continues, "IF YOU CAN'T SAY NICE THINGS ABOUT A PERSON, DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL."<br> <br>
It’s just as well Schulz dumped her. Actually she and CB had that much in common, besides the name similarity: they were both more than a little paranoid about being criticized.
