Stone Soup by Jan Eliot Gramma Evie: Don't you think you should be wearing a coat?? Val: I'm fine, Mom. Gramma Evie: It's so COLD. Val: I'm good, really. Gramma Evie: But - Val: Mom! I'm a grown woman! I can decide for myself if I need a COAT. Gramma Evie: * OK. Val: ? Val: Fine. If it'll make you HAPPY, I'll get a coat. Alix: Gramma, I want to be like you when I grow up. Gramma Evie: That's sweet, Alix. What about me do you admire? Alix: You can boss people around and they don't even KNOW it!
I love that as we get older we can say what we want and not be resented. I know I’m becoming more outspoken in my 70s but I also have more friends- I’ts great!
