Some HOA’s provide regs that actually protect one’s home. When AirBnBs began to sprout, a nearby HOA immediately surveyed the membership’s opinion whether to allow houses to be let for that function or not. The overwhelming reply was to deny those rentals. The board then had the rules rewritten to ban that travesty and to limit any rental to a hardship situation. [That happened when a member was transferred to another city for a year or more and wanted to retain the house until they returned.] Given what happened in many communities, that was a very good move. Admittedly, that might not be the case for many of them, but, as with anything to do with a large membership, there are a few who are worth the mention.
