Fair tax sounds nice - the United States is at war (albeit unconstitutionally, as the US Congress has not declared war - see Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution) and a million million dollars a year is being spent on its military. Under these circumstances, the tax rates current during the last major war - WW II - would seem to be eminently fair, and would, moreover, meet the Jeffersonian principle of not leaving huge debts for coming generations (in the event there are any) to pay….
