If the story were told from the whale’s point of view, it might be something like: “I’m minding my own business, eating krill. Suddenly some guy jumps out of his boat into the krill and swims right into my open mouth. The horrible taste makes me gag, of course, and I spit him out as fast as I can. Turns out he’s some kind of holy roller, and now he’s claiming he was rescued by some invisible supernatural being. These crazy humans will do anything to get their 15 minutes of fame. The less we have to do with them, the better off we’ll be, as far as I’m concerned.”
The great thing about myth is that as obviously impossibly stupid it is under examination, the gullible masses take it as physical fact. There must be some species survival value in it, but what that would be escapes me.
read the Bible again…a whale did not swallow Jonah…it was a “big fish” the Hebrew dag gadol is big fish, and the Hebrews knew the difference between a whale and a fish…it could have been a whale shark, which is a fish…just for clarification…also remember that it saved Jonah from drowning when he was thrown overboard…

It was so much the swallowing with chewing that got him put on the naughty chair in the corner. It was spitting it out that grossed Mom!

Whale, whale, whale… he was told not to play with his food.

It’s too bad he’s not a snake. In that case, swallowing his food whole would have been okay.
