Juliette says, "Why did you tell me you were in the OSS if you were a USO singer?" Gran says, "That's where Bill came in. He was a lieutenant in the OSS." Gran says, "He saw me performing at a camp show, and asked me out afterward. I can't remember what we talked about, but Bill had gotten me to say more than I realized." Gran says, "Because later a couple of troops appeared and escorted me by Jeep to somebody's office miles away." Gran says, "He was a colonel...I don't remember his name. He politely asked me to sit down. He said, 'I understand you can speak German'."
