Gran says, "Kiesl was very canny about how much information he let me take out, and how often. He didn't want the OSS to become dubious over a sudden glut of intelligence." Gran says, "He stuck to geographical details… buildings and bridges… items he learned eavesdropping on other soliders... things allied reconnaissance could verify." Gran says, "I was glad everything I reported was true, whether or not it was useful. Bill was so proud of me that I felt rather guilty... although I couldn't exactly say why." Gran says, "Meanwhile, amidst all this treason at one end and fibbing at the other, Kiesl taught me how to sing, and he seemed proud of me too."
