Gran says, "When I was done with my Cole Porter number, I took my bow and quickly walked offstage. But the applause had bypassed polite and cranked up to bellowing cheers from the Brits, and piercing Yank whistles. A pair of hands pushed me back into the follow spot, and I was obliged to take three more bows." Gran says, "Later I found out the pair of hands were Bill's." Gran says, "A British soldier threw his cap on the stage, I invited him up to retrieve it... and i gave him a kiss. The cheers got louder, he blushed and everybody seemed to be having a good time." Gran says, "...Except for one man standing the back of the theatre."
