Gran says, "They always say, when you get truly angry, you revert to your first language. Late that afternoon, Kiesl and I went to the battery to look out over New York harbor. It was very blustery and I couldn't keep my hair in place, but Kiesl wanted my picture. Then, all of a sudde, he started shouting in German at some men for staring at me." Juliette says, "Why were they staring?" Gran says, "I don't know. I thought maybe I had spinach in my teeth."
