Kiesl says, "We both arrived at an understanding all those years ago. We thought it best." Juliette says, "And do you think you made the wrong decision?" Kiesl says, "There was no way to make a right decision. Every decision was wrong. Every straw we drew was short." Juliette says, "And when you think of her now you feel nothing?" Kiesl says, "It's not a fair question for a love-struck young man imprisoned in the body of ancient frailties like mine. My heart swells, my throat grows speechless, and everything else for which I ever struggled turns to a mist next to the memory of her face." Kiesl says, "But this is an antique chapter now, and we're antique people. It's all over."
