Generally lying is free speech otherwise politicians, advertisers and media would all be in trouble. OTOH if we could tax lies….

Immediately after they rule that donating to themselves is legal … which Clarence Thomas has already been setting a steady stream of precedents for.

Outlawing lying is problematic. Among people, it’s impossible to find an impartial judge of what is true and what is not.

They already have. FOX ‘news’ attorneys used the First Amendment in defense and won the case when the judge ruled that lying is ‘freedom of speech’.

Free speech guarantees your right to speak out even if what you say is a lie.

Our constitutional guarantee of free speech only states that the government shall make no law prohibiting it.

Free speech does not protect you from the free speech of others over your expressions or in contradiction to your expressions.

Lying is free speech unless used to defraud in business or tax dealings or during testimony under oath. Lying is one of the basic freedoms – don’t abuse it.

For politicians, it is. For Coca-Cola, it is not. Stupid but true.
