Laura; I can't believe Jenna resigned. She was one of our best people. I'm getting depressed. And it doesn't look like anyone's home. Dark house. Dark mood. Nothing a little bit of Gumbo can't fix!
Agree; but pet “companions” live longer still. I don’t understand why, but having both a cat and a dog, around make me younger, and they do seem to know when I need attention. Generally around food time ;)
I got home from town and my dog Penny was so excited that she tried running in fast little circles. Finding that hardwood floors were too slippery, she moved to the dining room rug and entry mat so that she could display her enthusiasm.

I have an electronic mag subscription (tech), and you know what? I don’t peruse ‘old’ copies like I used to when they were glossy paper on my shelf. Just sayin.
Please show me some studies that prove this. I did a short search and found lots of articles that say this but could find no actual studies. I did find this however,http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/08/03/study-questions-if-pet-owners-are-healthier-and-happier/. I know this may be hard for you animal lovers to understand this but there are those of us who do not like animals and for us owning a pet would shorten out lives.

I can leave the house and be gone for 5 minutes, when I walk thru the door my Westie greets me as if I’d been gone for days!

I’ll take Jenna’s place Laura. If we add to the bookstore and make it an internet cafe we should be fine.

My dog leaves lots of “gumbo” in the yard.

Was without a dog about a year and hated it. Fortunately, a stray showed up at my neighbor’s and she (the dog) is now a much-loved family member.

The happy “welcome home!” dance from a dog is the best remedy for a bad day :)
