Adam: You didn't really think I'd let you get a tattoo, did you? Clayton: What? Not me! You! Adam: Me? Clayton: Yeah! They're cool! Adam: Clayton, I'm not a "rad dude." Katy: Well, for starters, he just said "rad dude." Clayton: I know. I was chalking it up to his advanced age.

I test-drove getting a tattoo in Key West last month. Done with Jagua dye, which is similar to henna, but blue/black like tattoo ink. A small treble clef by my right ankle. It lasted about four weeks. Now I’m waiting to get through vacation at the beach before I get a permanent one.

First thing I think of when I hear “Rad Dude” is “hmm, that must be some character in Fallout 3”.

Rad dude’s not current slang? Dang it, why don’t people tell me these things!

Well, I’m still thinking on it, and likely will for some time yet. Interesting to note, my 2 daughters are encouraging me to go ahead with a tattoo; not so much my wife of 43 years. Thanks for all the thoughtful suggestions to yesterday’s post.

When I was growing up, tattoos were the property of big, macho males. Once I became a big macho male [ahem…] they had become the property of teenyboppers. Go figure!
