I write backwards sometimes while writing the Bolt Chronicles(Bolt is a superhero I created on DeviantArt.com). It sometimes makes it easier to plot each story.

And the knife..   err, turnip twists

but… does “fun” pay the bills? I doubt it

For some it’s a gift, others have to wrest it away.

Will the pruning become alarming first, or will the hot water run out first? Tune in tomorrow to find out…

I’m with Laura on this one. Most of the time it’s just plain fun. Even when it’s not, it is a compulsion.

It was fun for me until I realized I’m wholly inept at believable characterization and “Show rather than tell.” I can map out a story’s plot; I can’t make the dialogue and other personal interactions convincing.

Maybe if she joined you there,Adam,it might become “fun”?

My pre-coffee eyes didn’t see the P in weep the first read, and I think I prefer that as the punchline…

“I’m going to go wee in the shower until my pruning gets alarming.”

Adam seems confused. Hopefully loppers will not be involved.

That is Adam’s problem for Adam….he needs more fun!

I have had many frustrating, maddening moments in my Projects, but the wonderful feeling when you finally get past a knotty problem is well worth it…

All the great literature of days gone by was written with a quill pen and Indian and/or squid ink and no whiteout. Imagine the process of making corrections.

I had a Professor who published 4-5 books a year, both academic and other. It really annoyed me…

It looks like Adam is plum out of luck, plum out of ideas, and plum out of his mind.

There are two different types of writings here. Adam has to write as his professional workand income for the family, usually some contracted work. Writing a novel is entirely different. There are few contracts or deadlines for the novice writer who writes for fun. Good luck my friend. Enjoy your shower…..

I think Adam needs a side gig that pays. Apparently, his job is not making him “happy”. …I suppose that’s the norm, really.

Work can be fun. I owned my company for 30 years and enjoyed the interaction with my clients, employees and vendors. I’ve since sold the company and retired but still look fondly on those days!

There’s a difference ‘have to’ do something and ‘like to’ do something.

Everyone’s process is different.

Like many professions… writing should be something you “have to do”. If you don’t have to, consider something else.

I knew a fellow who was a master at creating “sayings”. One of my favorites was,“It’s hard to beat fun for a good time”.
