if I’m deprived of sleep and don’t have to deal with people, I think I can pass. Yet, unfortunately, most jobs that were available were daytime

Ahh, modern retail and food service. Disrupting lives for our shopping and eating convenience.

I’m surprised a delivery guy is sticking around long enough to chat . These days they’re under such time constricted schedules/workloads they just smile and say “sign here”. Amazon and UPS just "toss’ packages onto porches/stairlandings and are gone in blink of an eye.

Till I got desk duty my day many times started at 5 pm on a Friday and I might get home by late Monday afternoon. Provided I had all the necessary crash paperwork and case reports filed. 42 years later and still here especially when the online systems crash as I am the only one who remembers how to do it all by hand.

I loved second shift – I am NOT a morning person, working 11am to 7pm or even 3pm to 11pm was fine with me.

Even the over night 11pm to 7am shift was fine – I can and do sleep during the day with no problems.

Nor did I mind working one weekend day – it gave me a day off during the week to get stuff done, stuff that normally required taking a day off, like doctor’s appointments.
