This strip is reminding me more and more of the one called “Retail” that shut down a few years ago. Can’t remember the artist/creator, but it had lots of behind-the-scenes drama, too.
Obviously the customer isn’t bright enough to know that most stores also have the item’s barcode on the shelving sticker as well. I found that out many, many, many years ago (before it was a standard practice) when I went to buy an item which was on sale – it was on a shelf beside a virtually identical item (which had a different barcode and wasn’t on sale) and someone had placed one of the non-sale items with the sale items – which, of course, I grabbed as I didn’t realize there was a difference. It was when I went to pay for it that I found out it wasn’t the sale item and I was told about comparing the barcodes. To make matters worse, the barcode on the shelving sticker was next to impossible to read without a magnifying glass!
In my dad’s store my mom had a similar experience with a woman who wanted the sale price on a coat that didn’t belong on the sale rack. The woman said, “I can make you sell it to me for that price.” My mom, in a gentle tone of voice, said, “How?”

“The customer is always right!”… In matters of taste, yes, but rarely about anything else.
