I had a woman in the library yesterday griping that she can’t find anyone who wants to work at her restaurant. I SO WANTED to say, “No, you can’t find any one who wants to work for the little you’re paying.”
I worked in IT at the corporate office of a specialty retailer in SF. For a while they did a Lunch with the CEO thing. When my group had its turn the CEO/founder went in for quite a while about the psychic income advantages of the office location. The woman sitting next to me nudged me and said “We aren’t going to get a raise this year.” She was right. (We did have a great bay view including the Bay Bridge and Yerba Buena Island and were close to Chinatown and North Beach for lunch.)

Try letting them work from home. I doubt the customer service would suffer much compared to what many stores provide these days.

How about hiring new employees for YOUR store Justin instead of poaching the employees at other stores?
