I guess candy never goes through a “vintage” phase.
My grandmother always had a big, covered candy dish. Only as an occasional treat were we allowed to open it and get a piece. We liked the ribbon candy best, because after it had been piled in there for a while, it stuck together rather firmly, so you got a BIG piece. :)
