Sometimes Agnes’ prayers remind me of an old time Baptist Bible Thumper.

I’m retired and work on crafts when I want to, clean when I want to, enjoy the company of others when I want to and pretty much do next to nothing. How do you have time to comment on GoComics??? Agnes is thankful she doesn’t have to say grace next year.

Violins are out on this day we give thanks for what we have. Wishing ill on others sort of goes against that.

Thank you for your entertaining story, as Judge Judy would say “I don’t believe you”

Believe me, buster, nobody is willingly poverty stricken. I live in an area with NO public transportation. How do people who don’t own a car get to work? Or go buy groceries? Have you checked out minimum wage recently? Most people who work at Wal-Mart are eligible for food stamps and medical assistance, and they ARE working. Love thy neighbor as thyself.

If I ever get my act together – I want to come visit your B&B. Around the holidays. And enjoy tasting all thst delicious sounding food..Agnes does not really pray for ill will unto others. She just doesnt want to do the Thanksgiving prayer. (but if the prayer happens to snag a real turkey dinner?…)

“I agree with Agnes. Why the hell should this nation’s wealth be owned by the 1%?”-Why should it be owned by any certain percentage? Is there some natural division of wealth which should be maintained by law or mob rule?-If you stole everybody’s money and other wealth and equitably divided it up among the people of the nation, old people, babies, natives and those just visiting, would the wealth stay equally divided?-per

http://www2.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html“As of 2010, the top 1% of households (the upper class) owned 35.4% of all privately held wealth, and the next 19% (the managerial, professional, and small business stratum) had 53.5%, which means that just 20% of the people owned a remarkable 89%, leaving only 11% of the wealth for the bottom 80%”-In fact, it points out that the bottom 40% own no net wealth, they (we?) owe more than $14,000 than the value of all assets other than houses. I don’t owe anyone anything but I’m special, not interested in what I can’t afford.

“Why the hell did Congress cut the Food Stamp program?”-They cut it because they are cheap with the people’s money. It was higher as part of a stimulus package the President assures us worked and which was supposed, according to him to be temporary, and is now cut back.It was cut back by Republicans who feared it would create permanent dependents who would always vote against Republicans lest their food be cut. They know they can’t starve the ones who they cut but they hope they can convert them to productive members of society in time for the next election in which case they figure they will vote for Republicans lest the other hungry people take THEIR tax money.-“Why the hell is there no affordable housing in NYC and that one person in six goes hungry?”-According to reports, NYC discouraged building of affordable housing, lest it encourage the poorer to move into their city. They controlled the amount landlords could charge which made new construction uncertain as to how well it would pay back and they preferred upscale housing which would attract the richer and let them be served by people from New Jersey or someplace else.-“I’m grateful for my own blessings, but I can’t forget those who aren’t so blessed.”-Never forget you can always give away all you have. After all the assumption is that the haves must have stolen from the have-nots and it is only fair to return it to them.(Except for me of course, no need to give any of your wealth to me. I’m poor by choice, not worshiping money and being lazy, I just have enough, not some huge excess.)

“The 1% would claim they are owed since they are the blessed. Why else would they be so rich? Would be their logic.”-Or that they earned what they have. The alternative implied explanation is that they own what they have because they stole it from the others and therefore it would proper to steal it from them and kill them for the theft they perpetrated on the noble poor.-The idea doesn’t hold up well under the light of truth, but who needs light anyway? Most of the poorest I know smoke and drink to excess, gamble away what they own, lay out from work drunk quite a bit, are off work sick due to lifestyle choices, wouldn’t listen to their teachers in school and bragged about how they told their bosses off just before the SOB fired them for not doing their jobs.-Please consider the possibility that people self-sort into the lifestyle they feel comfortable with. Despite the claims, most of the richest were not the richest a generation ago although they seldom came from wealth because the same parents who taught them to make something of themselves also made something of themselves along the way.

“We thank there for the realization that we show be thankful.” When you think about it, that’s a beautiful sentiment.
