It’s just poor, inoffensive food.

bread and water was always my favourite snack.

It must be in between pay days. Sometimes I feel bad for these two. I know it’s just a cartoon, but still.

If you’re lucky enough to have some milk, you can tear the bread to pieces add a little sugar and you have bread cereal. I ate a lot of that when I was a kid. (We had boxes of Gov. surplus powdered milk.) Of course it is better toasted— so since we didn’t have a toaster we learned how to skewer the bread with a fork and toast it over the gas stove.

Tony C., I wish you would delve into this kind of “dirt poor” aspect more often. its hysterical.

Agnes’s sharp mind will spring into action with a new idea. Plain Bread Toast! Think of the time people will save!
