When I was in high-school back in the 60’s, the Cdn Govt declared Canada to be bilingual (English and French). Hence French classes were the rigor of the day — yeech! Computer languages okay, but human languages not so much. My French is about as good as Agnes. The last Cdn census indicates that about 15-17% of the population is bilingual. Mostly in Quebec. Resist the temptation to go English-Spanish.
