There’s something oddly inspirational about how oblivious Agnes always is to her comically sad existence. She could get swept up in a tornado and would feel like a queen in her new “wind castle.”
Everyone needs a place like that. In my youth it was an abandoned outhouse. Still functional but some 200 yards into the woods, well worth the walk to sit and contemplate, read a magazine or just watch flies.

I had a fort in a tree 40 feet off the ground that was a good sanctuary. Nobody bothered to climb up and see it

I think all of it were chunks and now grown up to be “wood” so hmmm maybe hence the name “garden” !
