Trout is as “encouraging” as Frank DeGroot!

Well, that was harsh. Even if it’s true.

Speaking as one who has never written a novel, but has written numerous academic papers, every writer needs someone like Trout.

Are you going to let one bad review stop you? :)

When I wrote stories, I always had to cut off the first few pages.   Once I got three more stories out of the offcut.

I tried to read Catseye by Andre Norton but couldn’t get past the first couple of pages so I put it down. Years later I got to thinking about how I liked everything else she had written so I went back and started on Chapter Two. It was as good as usual. After several more chapters I went back to Chapter One and could finish it too.

I suppose Agnes started out with, “It was a dark and stormy night”; not realizing that it has already been written…

Poor Agnes. She thought she’d finally found her niche. (However you spell it!)
