Interesting description of hate. Don’t like licorice but do love springleri cookies(5 drops of anise per recipe) imprinted with all sorts of designs..Traditional christmas cookie Hard as a rock until put in a tin with a cut apple or dipped in coffee. The cat also loves to bat one around the house on the hardwood floors. A friend used hers on as Christmas tree ornaments for years. The anise keeps the insetcs away.
Isn’t what you’re doing now that same as hating certain types of candy? What you need to do is eat that candy in the dark to see if you hate the flavour or the color of the candy.
I’m not sure if it is the flavor or if color is added, but it also leaves your tongue an unattractive dark grey color. Black jelly beans are the worst.
The black ones are a refreshing palate cleanser after all the super sweet fruity jelly beans. They reset your mouth for a whole ‘nother fistful… Actually licorice and anise have a whole lot of medicinal uses. Both can settle your stomach after eating too large a meal (why the Greeks invented “ouzo”) Real black licorice is a surprisingly good emergency relief for those unexpected cramps and you haven’t got any ibuprofen on hand. If you don’t like the flavor, just hold your nose and think of it as chewy medicine. The relief will make it worth it.
Good candy is any candy with chocolate! I did like black licorice way back when before the powers that be decided it wasn’t good for you to eat too much of it. If you look up licorice, it has a lot of health benefits if you don’t eat a lot of it.
I don’t remember the details, but I’ve heard that, for medical reasons, black licorice is bad for some people. (I don’t care for licorice in general, myself.)
Yeah, not too wild about anise candy myself. I’ll eat a black Jelly Belly when I get it in a handful. I love anise pizzelles and the Santa’s Favorites, though.

Black licorice isn’t anise-flavored. The root with that name it’s made from just tastes similar.
No fennel then, either? Korean shiso leaves aka kkaennip? Ouzo? Raki?

My father used to love something called “horehound drops” which offered the delightful flavor combination of root beer and menthol. Yum!

If it isn’t licorice flavored, it isn’t licorice.

I love black licorice. The best part of it is, I don’t have to share it. More for me.

Tastes like hate? Well, I have to admit a don’t have a great fondness for the human species. Maybe that’s why I like black licorice so much.

Licorice is one of the best things in the world. For some reason Australia is the best source.
