I would guess it could work if you have only hand washed the cake pan. Dishwashers are deadly to kitchen bakeware. Haven’t made an angelfood cake in many years. Probably before I ever had a dishwasher except for me.
I have made exactly one angel food cake in my life from scratch. It was so nerve-wracking that I vowed never to do it again. Although, every now and then, I am tempted.
An offset spatula works well to convince the cake to let go. You can also use the plastic knives you get in takeout you never use and stick in a drawer somewhere—they won’t scratch the pan.
