I so wanted to like steel cut oats with all the hoopla. I mean, oatmeal is okay, but, eh. Cooked them overnight with apple’s and cinnamon. Surprise! Oatmeal is still oatmeal. Eh.
I make overnight oats using the same recipe as if I were cooking them but substitute real milk for water. The trick is to microwave them before you eat them in the morning. And use diced apricots instead of (or along with) raisins. YMMV.
I have yet to try and Insta Pot (fancy name for a pressure cooker I believe). Either way I’d guess it would come out the same as a Crock Pot. You end up with the same thing you’d get in a single serve package of oatmeal of your choice but a huge pot to clean after instead of one bowl. That said there IS a difference in taste between Steel Cut Oats and regular oats IMHO. Steel Cut instant for me….

Add some honey or a little touch of maple syrup to that combination?

I used to make ’em, then chop walnuts and an apple to toss in, and that seemed like more work than pancakes, so . . . you know.

I have a friend whose name is Amanda, who also doesn’t care for oatmeal because of the texture. Maybe it’s an “Amanda thing”? ;)
