I sometimes do the same, and my husband tells me “Well, for the same reasons you love me!” I am always stunned because I am reminded each time the depth of my love for him and that he loves me the same. Woah.

Because you are you. The only you. Love is not a why; “Love is…”

I once asked my husband why he loves me. I was not prepared for what he said. It was so sweet.

Because love is a decision and he chooses to love you! What’s not to love?

Hmm. Why does a person love another person. Well, personally, I can look back over my life and be honest with it all and understand that there were a few choice people in my life who I thought I loved, but obviously did not. I was endeared to this one, fascinated with that one, voraciously attracted to another one in that wonderful animalistic way. Etc. I was even married to one of them for a long time, but know now that I did not love her.

So I developed a litmus test for love, over time. I’d picture a person in my life, past or present, being in a terrible, life threatening situation. It’s awful… I know.. but if my reaction to that image is one of basic humane wanting it to end and them to be okay, I do not nor ever did love that person deeply. But if the thought hurts and makes me cringe and feel badly that I’d even think such a thing, I love that person a lot.

So, love, to me, is a deep caring that transcends all other emotions, and what’s very wonderful about it is that the person’s age, gender, race, relationship to me are all not relevant. So.. why does Dan love this comic woman? His “Ha ha, oh Lamb” says a lot to me. He loves her deeply. I hope the comic woman abandons the wondering about it and just basks in it. That’s love.

    In my opinion.

    Gawd I blither!
