I used to live next door to a graveyard. The gophers had such an extensive tunnel system that they could pop up anywhere. Caretakers tried filling them in, but there were too many. I think they gave up and haven’t bothered for awhile, as far as I can tell with no ill effect. No cave-ins at any rate. No idea what it looks like now! But I remember seeing gopher holes at the base of many graves.
Have you seen the movie Caddy Hack?! (not a typo) Awful movie with plenty of R rated language/situations/violence and dreadful lack of acting (that is intentional). But the mutated gophers are good!
