But, Andy, doesn’t the intoxication also mess up your trying to hit the board, not another player or a spectator?

Not all that funny, but, it does sound like something Andy would say.

Snooker would have been an equally appropriate response.

Just for fun, I thought i’d post the cover of the latest (still drawing it, actually) issue of my online comic book… I found a great website for Art-Deco fonts and I’ve been taking advantage of it

Some may see darts as a games for wimps, but enough beer makes it a blood sport…

World class players like Andy take the game very seriously indeed…

This is why soccer, rugby and cricket never became popular here.

My favorite is softball with a beer cooler at each base.

THEM and The Blob were actually decent flicks! When i saw THEM Mission Impossible was a Hit so It was odd to see Peter Graves in a ‘harried’ role.. . . plus in L.A. the VJ was local institution Seymour who preceded that Vamp Woman.

‘Funny’ you should mention Bowling.I can’t sai for-certain Andy hasn’t raced a Bicycle [the #2 sport after Foothockey BTW], but it’s common knowledge Andy was never a Kegler. It’s stated-so in the Paul Slade Essay at-least.

One last thing about animated avatars: you can stop them by clicking on them and hitting the Escape button. I sometimes resort to that — if I want to read a comment sandwiched between a couple of distracting avatars. -However, requiring your reader to go through a couple of other steps, just to be able to read posts without unnecessary distractions, is no answer. It just makes the animation all the more pointless.

A good thought, NN2K, but remember that the first word in “science fiction” is “science.” To focus a giant magnifying glass, you’d probably have to hold it steady ten miles up in the air. Pretty daunting. Plus, the still from the movie is during a sandstorm, so no sun to focus. Nope, it’s a Tommy gun to the antennae.

I’m not a fan of animated avatars myself, but through iron will, steely self discipline, and laser like concentration I’m able to fight my way through the distraction.

@tundraseaYou state the following, and I quote: “I just politely pointed out the facts: animated avatars are annoying, distracting, and essentially disrespect the reader.” /I see an opinion there, but no facts. If you meant that animated avatars are annoying and distracting to YOU, personally, that is one thing. (And probably to some others, of course.) I never once was bothered by an animated avatar and of course I can’t conceive of thinking that an avatar off the the left of a post can possibly “disrespect” me as a reader. You certainly have a right to your own opinion, but don’t pretend that your opinions apply to everybody, nor that they are “facts.” (By the way, if anybody could find a way to animate MY avatar, so that Jock Justice is shooting at the leprechaun’s feet to make him “dance, Pardner!” I’d get a kick out of that. I probably wouldn’t use it more than once, however, not wanting to “disrespect readers” …………..)

I think we’ve seen Andy drinking beer during those other sports, too.
